Twelve composites, eight sectors

Each maps to one Bullet Meter check

Twelve lines, before and after

Each card shows a line as it arrived, the line that replaced it, and the note that names the move. The last line on each card names the Bullet Meter check the original would have failed. Press the button on a card to read the original alone; press it again to bring the rewrite back.

The same six checks the Bullet Meter runs

The six moves

Every rewrite above is one of six moves, and each is the fix for a check the Bullet Meter runs on a line. None of the fixes is clever. The craft is in choosing which claim deserves the line at all.

Verb. Open with an action that moved the work: led, rebuilt, negotiated, launched, cut. Soft openers like assisted with or participated in surrender credit before the sentence begins. If the real role was support, find the piece you owned and lead with that piece.

Evidence. Close with what changed: the delivery time, the error rate, the renewal, the audit result, the launch date met. Use real numbers where they exist and an honest range where the exact figure is gone. When there is no number at all, name the change instead.

Length. One line where you can, two where you must. A third line usually means two ideas are sharing one bullet, and either each deserves its own or one deserves cutting.

Filler. Windups like in order to and worked collaboratively with various stakeholders spend the first words, which get read most, on nothing. The verb and the strongest fact belong there.

First person. Resume convention drops the subject: Led the migration, not I led the migration. Past roles take past tense, the current role takes present.

Duty language. Responsible for and oversaw describe the chair, and the reader already knows roughly what the chair was for. What the reader cannot know, unless the line says so, is what changed because you held it.

The longer version of each move, with the reasoning, is in How to Write Resume Bullets That Prove Your Case.

When your own lines need this

If the findings keep pointing at the same lines, the Essential package rebuilds the document from positioning up, bullets included. To do it yourself, paste your lines into the Bullet Meter and it grades each one where the editing happens.
